Managing expectations. I had been told that the Pain Management Group was a team and would weigh in on my pain situation but that was not the case. The doctor was totally focused on the treatment which he did very well. But not having anyone there to find out what is wrong with me was devastating.

I feel very lucky and well taken care of at UCSF Pain Management!

My over all care experience has been completely different from any treatment I've ever received over the years. I've been dealing with other care team professional / experts whose claims to give me a better chance of having some type of normalcy in my life. And ending up with UCSF has been the best thing that has happened for me since my fall and the car accident. So it's not a 100% fixes But having 20% to 25% more use of my body has been better than ever. Meaning I can think more clearly I can have a lil more time with family I don't have to be afraid to go hang out with my family and have a good time without feeling like I'm going to get rushed to the hospital due to all the pain and pressure on my spine. I feel more optimistic about my future and my body getting at least 20 to 30% more better than where I'm at now.

Doctor appears more interested in his medical student trainees than in the patient.

Dr. Pasvankas is a rare 5 DR who goes over and beyond. I will actually be sort of sad if I can get my pain under control for one reason alone and that is that my contact with Dr. P will be rare. My contact with Dr. Pasvankas now is frequent and he is working diligently with me going up the ladder of options to get my problem under control. It is not controlled yet but we are not giving up and working together as we have one final option to hopefully get my pain under control. Dr. P. Helps me keep my spirit alive which is why I love him..

Dr. Pasvankas truly provides Legendary Patient Care.
    Aug 07, 2022
Dr. Pasvankas is always on top of his game and never misses a beat. Nothing goes past him. At the end of this procedure he have me instructions that were out of synch with this procedure & I did not know why but I was dazed by all the sedation. It was not until I stepped out of the office that I realized that another thing did not go right with the procedure. The next day the Fellow phoned me to explain exactly what went wrong. Dr. P felt worse about this procedure not working out for me than I did & I did not lose faith because we have ONE more thing we can try before I lose ALL HOPE.

The provider was very kind and thorough. I wish they had a better office space. The area is tiny and old. Can't they be moved into the new building where MS patients are seen??

Love this Care Provider. His care and ability to interact with patient on personal things is so helpful to forming a team to deal with problems.
    Jul 21, 2022
Everything was explained in detail to my satisfaction.
    Jun 13, 2022
HE WAS VERY NICE. UNFORTUNATELY WE CAME TO NO SOLID RESOLUTION ONLY A FEW SUGGESTIONS OF TREATMENT THAT MIGHT HELP.
    Jun 09, 2022
Dr. Pasvankas carefully explains everything always and never omits anything. I know because I was a student of nursing myself and worked in the field for years.

I am only wondering why my care team did not go ahead and place 2 DRG wires to begin with for my 1st neurmodular trial based on my post trial research. I read a Cleveland study online that does mention that people with foot pain do better with DRG wires that with DCS wires and I wish now that I knew that before rather than after having 1 DCS wire and 1 DRG wire placed as the DCS wire did absolutely not good for me.

I am still wondering about the result of the surgery. I don't know if went well which medications I can take or not and mostly explaining facts and/or medications while under sedations I found this a bit loose. How am I suppose to remembered what all has been said to me?

Discussed pain management needs for an upcoming surgery. Notes in MyChart were helpful for the surgeon (not at UCSF but on EPIC)

I have a somewhat complicated case with a lot of different therapies and other medical situations. Dr Pasvankas never misses a beat. He is so clear thinking present patient- or service-oriented and so clearly authentic and enthusiastic about the way he connects with everyone (staff and me). He is a pleasure and a role model.

As I have stated in previous surveys and will state again today Dr. Pasvankas has not is still unchanged in his high standards of perfection. He is a pain specialist that I trust. He includes me in our treatment plan. He cares about me and I know my well being & safety is his priority. I would trust him with my life. He is well versed with my health history & I know he looks after his fellowship doctors with a fine tooth comb.

    Jan 27, 2022
The provider I feel did listen to my concerns about second injections.
    Jan 07, 2022
My experience with this provider was top notch. I was very relaxed he explained everything.
    Jan 07, 2022
He had a caring and friendly bedside manner and explained information well. Unfortunately he like many practitioners is influenced by the every-broad-brushing of all patients in regard to pain medication treatment thanks to the "opioid crisis." I tried to discuss a possible increase or change in my pain meds (he would advise my PCP not prescribe himself) and he avoided the issue though it is an important part of my pain management--in fact the only modality that allows me to get out of bed and do the bare minimum in my day to day life with an unacceptable quality of life currently--and I have poor pain management. There is ample documentation of my multiple surgeries in the past as well as my conditions that require this medication yet he also did not want to address this only recommended steroid injection which I have multiple experiences with in the past with little to no relief and actual pain flare ups. Not surprising considering that is usually the main focus of pain management clinics and their main source of revenue. Though I liked him as a physician and he seemed empathetic knowledgeable and friendly....his refusal to address my pain meds or advise my PCP regarding dosing was disappointing. She is willing to adjust my meds if a pain management specialist advises it. Its too bad so many doctors are being influenced by the "opioid crisis" hysteria--and chronic pain patients like myself continue to suffer because of it.

Resident fellow should have read primary visit in chart before seeing me that's minimal expectation for any Patient she did not know much about me

Dr. Pasvankas ans his Associate (Fellowship Dr) were both fantastic. Both were well briefed with my condition and last procedure and very compassionate professional and expert in their questions and concern. They know I am going through a different problem that is vexing and putting off me getting a more permanent pain procedure until we can get the vexing problem worked out. They are very kind and understanding about that as well and supporting me because after years I finally decided to have a DCS and then the vexing incidental problem cropped [email protected]#@!!!!!. They have been very kind during this & have offered me much moral suport as well as helped me get a specialist referral @ UCSF when my PCP was "sitting on it."
