Dr. Manish Aghi is a neurosurgeon specializing in brain tumors at UCSF Medical Center. He cares for adult patients with a wide range of conditions, including astrocytomas and anaplastic astrocytomas, oligodendrogliomas, glioblastomas, meningiomas and pituitary adenomas. As principal investigator at the UCSF Brain Tumor Research Center, his interests include glioblastoma angiogenesis, mechanisms of glioblastoma resistance to anti-angiogenic therapy and experimental glioblastoma therapies such as cancer-killing viruses.

Aghi earned his medical degree and a doctoral degree in neurosciences from Harvard Medical School. He completed a residency in neurosurgery at Massachusetts General Hospital. He is a member of the Society for Neuro-Oncology, American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons and Pituitary Network Association. Among his honors are the Preuss and Mahaley awards from the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, and the Ronald L. Bittner Award, Synthes Skull Base Award and Integra Foundation Award from the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.

    The inability of the team's to communicate with each other is alarming. This is high-ten by the fact I live 6 hours away from SanFransico. This is also the second time I have had a tumor on my or near my pituitary glan. The first being 4 years ago. I was told because of this they were going to do radiation first.

    Everything was excellent but abridged. It was clear we only had 30 minutes. For an initial meeting with a surgeon who decided surgery was the only treatment and no pre-surgery follow up appointment has yet been scheduled the 30 minutes was just not enough to get everything done that needed to be done. But Dr. Aghi was courteous clearly listened to what I shared with him assessed quickness information shared with me the overview of what he recommend moving forward enough for me to agree with the plan and for him to move forward with executing that plan.
