The UCSF Lung Health Center at Parnassus offers comprehensive evaluation and treatment for patients with all types of lung disease other than lung cancer. Conditions treated include asthma, emphysema, occupational respiratory diseases, pneumonia, pulmonary embolism, pulmonary hypertension and pulmonary complications of AIDS.

The UCSF Advanced COPD Clinic cares for patients with severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and emphysema. Our team of specialists helps patients manage their conditions and provides respiratory therapy, nutrition counseling and pulmonary rehabilitation in a setting dedicated to COPD care. We are also one of the few Bay Area clinics to offer treatments for severe emphysema – such as endobronchial valves and lung transplantation – to patients with COPD or alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (a genetic disease that increases the risk of developing emphysema).

COVID-19 Follow-Up Clinic

We provide follow-up care for patients who have recovered from COVID-19. Our specialized OPTIMAL Clinic brings together specialists from pulmonology, geriatrics and psychiatry to care for patients who were hospitalized with COVID-19 or have persistent pulmonary symptoms. Care is provided at regular intervals for 12 months after hospitalization.
