Signs and Symptoms

A mild mitral valve prolapse often doesn't cause any symptoms. Symptoms of a significant prolapse may include:

  • Shortness of breath
  • Bursts of rapid heartbeat (palpitations)
  • Chest discomfort
  • Fatigue
