Signs and Symptoms

Symptoms of ankylosing spondylitis include:

  • Pain
  • Stiffness, especially in the morning
  • Functional limitation

When the disorder affects the spine, it also may result in progressive deformity including curvature of the back, called kyphosis, and the inability to stand up straight.
